My letter to Senator John Cornyn about the David Hamilton confirmation:
Dear Mr. Cornyn,
First of all I am going to let you know who I am, but it really doesn’t matter. I am the republican district chair in my district in San Antonio. This means I am the guy that you all take for granted, that knocks on the door of each person in my district and begs people to vote for you. You don’t know me and probably never will.
John, you being the man I helped elect puts you in a very extreme high position. You were picked to represent at least 24,326,974 people. We sent you to Congress to put your foot down, to take our stand and to represent us. Ninety Five percent of the time you do that.
Right now you all are focused on health care, cap and trade, corruption, and the war, and you should be. But also right in front of your eye is a full frontal assault on our third branch of government, the judiciary. The goal of the left is to get as much Marxist agenda passed as they possibly can. Their next goal is to get as many activists on the court as possible, to uphold all of their new policies and to disenfranchise us. They want to completely change this society for the worst.
What I am trying to get at John, is the David Hamilton confirmation hearing. Hamilton as you should know was a huge campaign fundraiser for ACORN, and a leader of the ACLU in Indiana. Hamilton believes that laws can be made from the bench and empathy was important in performing a Judges role. This Hamilton was voted not qualified by the ABA when nominated by Clinton. He has been known to exceed his authority. I don’t care to go on and on about this Hamilton because it is your job to know him.
Two days ago, Senate Democrats crushed a filibuster led against Hamilton demonstrating that the Republicans can’t stop the President from turning the federal judiciary to the left.
You Mr. Cornyn voted to limit debate of the qualifications of Mr. Hamilton. You and nine other Republicans went against the votes of your parties leaders and voted to limit debate.
Your argument that judges shouldn’t be chosen based on litmus tests, that politicians shouldn’t demand promises in exchange for confirmation and that the same rules should apply regardless of which political party is in the majority and that "every judicial nominee is entitled to an up-or-down vote", was pathetic. It made me almost cry.
Just pretend this is football Mr. Cornyn. Your job is to represent us. You are to block tyranny, socialism, and all leftist agenda. You are there to stop radical judicial appointments. You are not there to play fair and games and footsies with the left. You are there to play ball. For the next two or three years you will probably be on defense. Get with it or I will be knocking on doors for someone else next time.
Yours faithfully,
David Fuller
